Pioneer Polar Express Christmas 2011

It's that time again folks!!! Time to roll out the 6th annual Christmas Gift Drive, now known as the Pioneer Polar Express. My elf accountant's calculations say that the good people of this community will have raised close to $20,000.00 to help families in and around Greenhills after we complete this year

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this, I will do my best to briefly explain it again

The very generous people of this community donate money in $25 "shares" to the "Granny CJ fund". There is a balance already in this fund from the Halloween party. The GCSO matches those contributions (up to $2000). Needy families right here in our community have been identified for us. Each family is assigned a team captain who will manage the process from collecting the $$ all the way through to delivering the gifts directly to the families. We will be wrapping the gifts on 12/10 at the Legion Hall prior to our annual Christmas Party. If you have not witnessed the gift wrapping, "controlled mayhem" is the best description I can use. It's a great opportunity to get the kiddies involved.

All the team captains from last year will now be asked to find their own replacements. This has served us well in expanding the number of people involved.

Thank you all for your generosity, and Merry Christmas!!!!

Feel free to sign up right here on this thread. If you would like to let me know what I should bring to your village on Christmas eve, you can let me know that as well. Feel free to send me a PM if you wish to identify a family in need.

thanks again and hohohohohohohohoho!!!!!!!

6th Annual Pioneer Open Golf Outing, Saturday, September 17

The biggest fundraiser for the Greenhills Community Service Organization is the Pioneer Open golf outing. The success of this event is what allows the GCSO to do some of the good things that have been done in the village. Buying Christmas gifts for families that can't afford to, helping improve the kids baseball parks, buying a wheelchair, and the Tim Gentry Memorial are just a few of the many GCSO events and projects. During tough times, the need for help is greater than the available resources.

Three ways that anyone can get involved and help out are

1) Participate. The entire outing costs $100/person ($400/foursome) the value of the prizes, golf, dinner, etc. are worth the entry fee alone

2) Sponsor a hole. $200 gets a sign with the name of your company (or the name of your family) posted on the tee box of one of the 18 holes. This group of generous Pioneers are the ones who have made this event what it is today.

3) Donate prizes. If we don't get them donated, we have to purchase them, so the value of these gifts adds straight to the bottom line!
Respond to this event if you would like to be a part of this. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them. If you are receiving this, you are eligible to participate!!!See More
